Extra Updates [9]

Posted on June 10, 2012 at 9:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Here comes the next set of updates, whereas today I'm going to talk about the upcoming projects, current projects, logos, reviews, and so much more. This might include the review on Buxster (the fifth site review overall), the stop and hiatus of many site projects, and the very big Isang Binhi project that I told you about a long time ago (though dad said not to, but others do want it.)

BUXSTER AND PARTNERSHIP
Buxster's owner Zane is asking if I can review his site and become business partners. At the moment, I am not planning in becoming business partners with anyone, for I have much anticipated things to do, but I am planning to become big with sites like TrafficHeart, +Social, and maybe Buxster. You might also have to wait on the review on Buxster, because I haven't gotten access on the computer (I was rather using a mobile device, due to the inconvenience of computer use.) But it's halfway finished, and you might not expect what is coming.

SHADOW INFINITE, HAY N' OATS STOPPED
Shadow Infinite has stopped because Ace told me to just stop working on it, being a complete waste of time with limitations, and Rico also told me to stop working on the Hay N' Oats project and just remove it from history. Shadow Infinite has been stopped because of Webs's current failure to produce any "miracles" for free users such as CSS editing for SB3 and more pages. Hay N' Oats is stopping because Rico hated the idea, and so he wants to remove it without hesitation.

A SUPER CONTROVERSIAL LOSS
Ace, Creepster, Pinkie Pie (Rico) and I have been watching PPV boxing at Creepster and Ace's house, Manny Pacquaio vs. Timothy Bradley. Before the games began we played a little bit of board games, and yes, Creepster and Rico was trashing me and Ace for being "poor" and called us "the working class." I called them "Republicans" because they were "rich" and acted "corrupt", and for some reason they found it to be okay.

In the end, we watched the end of the boxing as boxing burns to the ground, because Bradley won with Manny finally losing by a 2-1 margin. In my perspective, Pacquaio beatened Bradley according to stats, numbers, and OUR OWN EYES. Ace, Creepster, and Rico believed Pacquaio won all of the rounds, I thought it was Pacquaio 117-111. This also reminded me of the third Marquez vs. Pacquaio fight, in which Marquez was robbed according to many and they're probably right. However, the difference between these two fights is that Pacquaio beatened Bradley by a far gap, and Bradley wins it. In addition, Bradley later was sitting on a wheelchair. Winners don't NEED wheelchairs AT ALL.

Then again, you know Pacquaio, he's humble and accepted that loss.

When Ace looked at his phone, he said that already 5,000 people are commenting about this shocking moment. Creepster was sleeping already, and Rico called this "stupid", and everyone was like, "What the f*ck is this?" I told them, "Why don't we have one of us drive to Las Vegas and teach those two idiots how to judge?" This is probably how Marquez fans felt when being robbed, lol. But really, it isn't funny.

People are already saying: to boycott boxing, RIP boxing, Manny Pacquaio is still the best boxer ever, etc. They're even encouraging others to avoid watching the rematch this November. Even though Pacquaio clearly won, I expected way better in that fight.

DISCOVER THE MUSIC WITHIN YOU
Isang Binhi's website is now in full preparation, and I'm starting with its logo and upcoming 2012-2014 cover. Here is what the new logo looks like:

The concept logo was darker, had a glow, and had a far more "cursive" and "decorative" calligraphy of a font, but this is more simplified and better. It probably isn't good for the eyes though, but I am planning to make the site white and green. The cover is not finished though, and more news about the upcoming site is coming soon.

Six 9-Point Rallies in Rematch

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 11:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Today was a bowling rematch against me and Rico, who had a fever for a couple of days (just two, that is). If you knew in the previous post, Rico defeat me in four straight games, losing the final two in the same day.

Rico said he just gained his moments in the final parts of the game, so the win was just luck.

"The only reason why you won Red was because I was sick and figured it out in the ending," Rico said, unhappy. Rico was unhappy with the game and unhappy with the results. "You just defeated me ONCE, not three times."

Rico was also not satisfied with how many games we played today.

"We only played one lousy game because you kept on talking," Rico and I told mom. "I knew it and you should've gone. But no, you have to talk about some laptop's password."

He also said, "If we played two games I'd bet I'd beat you in the second."

As the title describes, I have made six straight 9-point rounds, with a total of 9 points for six rounds, 2 spares, and two rounds when scoring 6 points. The record has been tied to 4-3, but Rico said that he is "winning" 4-1. But that doesn't mean it is over.

The reactions of this game were controversial or mixed. I was happy and enjoyed it, but Rico was ticked off and started mocking me about off-topic things. He was super cranky and couldn't get the game over it.

In a nutshell, I won the rematch 96-62.

Website Review #5: Buxster

Posted on June 5, 2012 at 5:25 PM Comments comments (0)

SUMMARY
Buxster basically had a similar past like Buddy Web whereas they had a different topic to their site. Before the "music movement", Buxster mainly consisted of entertainment(for members mostly.) Today's Buxster features a vast variety of colorful music videos and all things music, most of them being new aged. This review took a very long time because I had much to do.

DESIGN: 88/100
Buxster has done very superb with cross-browsing. One difference though is that in Internet Explorer when hovering to the log in/register button the button's opacity is smaller. But that's so much about it, and well done. Many segments of the design on Buxster are really great. The new Shine page in my opinion is such a major improvement. Let's look at the down sides, though, including:

  • The background, I have to say, is OK, it actually works well with the site, but it's a little too distracting.
  • The font you used for the titles in logos are thin, which is not good for those that can't see well.
  • The footer is a little "out of place." You should kind of fix that.
I have a mobile version of your website, and in my opinion it's really good.

FEATURES: 85/100
In Buxster, you can watch music videos, be part of a community, download its amazing apps, comment on the guestbook or spambook, and more. Buxster has been living up to its main thing: music, and has done decently well with features especially for members of Buxster.

CONTENT: 87/100
Buxster has tons of content, especially from music to support. For the positives, Buxster has stuck with its topic since the music movement. Buxster does not contain any content that is out of its main course. Buxster also keeps you connected, whenever and wherever, with the BuxBar and its mobile applications. Yes, I do have the mobile version on iPad and iPod, and did experience it. But now here are its downs.

It is known that Buxster offers you the latest music from the latest singer. And I understand. This is basically a suggestion, but would Buxster also add some classics? For example, The Beatles? But that is okay, but you know I have different tastes. And I don't actually hear so much of rap and new age music (just some.)

Some other things you need to add are the Shine page "about" and the Vippy page. You have to add that. It would probably keep your members alive and interested, and I do want to vote for my favorite music video. Release that and the content segment will receive a higher score.

Buxster has the much anticipated BMA (Buxster Member Awards). It's really one of the most exciting things to happen in Buxster, and I cannot wait for the next one. I am not going to join the BMA Awards, but I will definitely try to participate and vote for the best! :)

And speaking of your mobile apps--don't just include updates, add some vids too! It is possible to make them work for the iPod, Android, etc. But it will take a lot of work!

COMMUNITY: 85/100
According to the members page you have 264 members. That's a lot for a Webs website. To score higher, however, you should have 300. Then I know that Buxster is a really active site.

Even though Buxster is a place of music, watching the music videos I only see approximately 25 views per vid... which doesn't seem right. It's around 25 views and you have more than 200 members? I haven't been doing much in Buxster lately knowing that I have a lot of work to do this summer, including my two upcoming projects (which you'll hear soon), but remember, those members require more activity but you know that sometimes they're busy.

CONCLUSION
Buxster is an excellent music website with a vast variety of apps, downloads, features, pages, content, members, and much more! With these kind of expectations Buxster really deserved top notch comments from many people, including those that have experience with sites. I couldn't say any better, and Zane should really keep this up!

P.S. -- I have seen an update on your design. The links and logo turned to blue. Good choice! (It looks way better and fits to your site, now with the background...)

Not Upgrading to SB3 + Site Hosting

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 4:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Webs Site Builder 3 has already released its conversion app and if you ever want to migrate, then fine.

Since I'm talking about this, question is: am I going to upgrade/migrate to Site Builder 3. The answer is no, and here is why:

First of all, I have declared to no longer use Webs anymore (but I will use Webs for my official website, which of course, is this site). Aceofshadows and I have planned in finding a site hoster where we can do whatever we want. That includes unlimited pages, no stupid advertisements, no limits, and best of all, free.

In case you haven't noticed I am planning to make a new social fun site. It is a social network, BUT it will include a chat, online games, profiles, videos, and much of that. The big thing is that I WILL NOT RIP ANY SITE OFF. I am planning to make the upcoming site an original site, so I'm going to do mostly everything on my own. I will have people test the beta version this summer in July or August (June, this month, is possible.)

I have been making names for the upcoming network. But after everything, the name of the social fun site will be called RedRX, and for a few reasons. First of all, my name is Red and who is building the site? Me! Second, RX is part of my username, RenegadeRX11.

I was going to use Webs, but I already know how limiting Webs is now. So according to many recommendations I will be building the site from scratch. Link is coming soon.

Major Design Revamping

Posted on June 3, 2012 at 7:35 AM Comments comments (0)

I redesigned my website starting two days ago, and I think the revamp made it look better than before. It was kind of major, but the previous look looked outdated, and there were some things that were out of sync, including the headers, search bar (especially button), colors, and footer. So, what of course did I add?

I definitely redesigned the search bar, because it looked horrible. The search bar can be seen especially in the blog. It's a little too big, though, but less padding (when I tested it) didn't look as good as I expected. So I kept it like that. Second, I removed the container background and bigcontain background so it would fit with the site's wallpaper. The previous template looked like a rectangle because the wallpaper's color was mainly #111, and the container's BG was #000. Sidebars were edited as well and I increased the lightness of the black color from #000 to #080808. Third of all, the blog was revamped. The buttons were misplaced, and to fit the buttons with the theme I changed not only the buttons, but the blog headers using/based on the "All Things Red" header to fit the theme. Footer headers had the same perspective.

I removed the logos of the site because they were taking in too much space for this site and its current bandwidth. But when we get more bandwidth by upgrading, plus a dot com domain, we can add a little extra, but with my budget I can't afford to really pay for this "expense."

So, to conclude, do you like the look? I didn't fix or revamp 100% of the design. So far I had a few comments saying it looked really cool or nice. Thank you for the response. But wait!!!

I'm going to invite a couple of people to type for my blog. If you do know me well, you will have the chance to do so. Rules will be sent by email!

Rico Unsatisfied w/ Hay N' Oats

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 11:35 AM Comments comments (0)

This is considered to be a short blog post so yeah, nothing special except about yesterday. 8)

I am super bored so far to this day and I wanted to help others do things.

Well, the last couple of weeks Rico, you know he's my brother and all that, changed his user name to "I eat hay and oats. Vegetarian." I though it was funny, and he said, "It's what I do." This "inspiration" got me to make a new site: it's called Hay N' Oats.

Again I used SB3 (Site Builder 3 in case you haven't noticed) to build the site, and so far I'm near to complete with the home page. When Rico found out about the site (well I told him to check it out), he was happy, nor was he mad.

"Doesn't it look great?" I asked him.

"Yeah, so," Rico answered. "It's not that great. Plus what did I tell you about--"

"Okay, okay, okay!!!" I yelled.

"You got the point," Rico said. "Only when I tell you to work on the site that you are going to build the site."

Yeah, speaking of that, only 1% says he's going to do it.

Website Review #4: Tirl.tk URL Shortener

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 5:40 PM Comments comments (0)

SUMMARY
This site, TiniestUrl, has the same functionality as of the previous site I reviewed, but is slightly different and is created by Cody. Also simple and fast, you just type your URL address and in a split second it will generate a new, tiny URL. I was told that this is its beta version (if I can remember) so not everything will be perfect. But then there's one question: does TiniestUrl define itself?

DESIGN: 88/100
The design of this site is sexy indeed. I have to say that the design (especially in Google Chrome, which I use and should) is beyond impressive, and much better than what I have mostly done over the years, so, great job! However, downfalls and bad marks give the design a lower score. For instance, I noticed how TiniestUrl is best viewed when using Google Chrome. But, you should make sure that your site looks good in all browsers (cross-browsing, perhaps). Some of the bad flaws of the design can be seen from, what do you know, Internet Explorer. I know how crappy IE is, even though IE9 is a major improvement, but come on. My brother uses IE and I tell him to use Chrome, but he ignores me. So in a nutshell, your design is not going to be "beyond impressive" for IE users. I also noticed how links are not the same size, depending on the page you click in. For instance, when you click on "Contact", the navigation bar's text will increase. Please fix that, it's kind of disturbing/distracting.

FEATURES: 82/100

  • Shrink your URL
  • Embed the site's widget to your site
  • Easily drag the site to your bookmarks
  • Share the site to social networks
Your widgets are identical, and not only that, but spectacular. I pasted the widget into my site (then deleted it) and dude it almost or does look the same. Sarcastically saying, it's so great that I would be worried someone would copyright the site. But that doesn't mean you should change it, it's really great! Just remove the background. Dragging the bar, I like that. Add more feats. and you can do much for the URL. All of these, unfortunately, happen to be all in one page.

CONTENT: 80/100
What I just said about the features is that you need to add more so then there's more to your site then just shrinking URL addresses. For instances, some sites offering the same things also offer analytics, customizing the URL, and much more. Oh well, at least you can embed widgets. Also, the API page is really educational and is a nice source for integration.

ORGANIZATION: 94/100
The site is super clean, minimal, and efficient. I'm happy to say that TiniestURL has very tiny bad scratches. Of course, remember in design flaws that any image linked has an annoying white rectangle. Not each page is the same when it comes to this, but seriously, this site (so far) is the most organized I have ever seen. Improve as the site evolves and this could go up, you never know.

CONCLUSION
This site is fantastic: clean, simple, fast, and many "good" words really describe it. Now again not everything is perfect. My advice is to add more, yet not too much. Yes, people are more focused on shortening URLs than anything else, but a few/some probably want extra. The design is almost perfect, the organization is almost perfect, just mostly everything is reaching beyond the limits of web designing and etc.
